Happy Wellness Wednesday! (HEADS UP: Today’s post is longer than usual)

This post was inspired by my friend who last year around Valentines, got this idea to talk about ways in which people could give love on his radio show. He hosts a classical music radio show on Sunday’s for a radio station called Asylum Radio. His show’s called “In Concert with Koti”. You can find the station on mixcloud.com. This week, I’d actually wanted to post about intuitive eating. (I hope I didn’t say that last week because if I did, I obviously forgot). When I remembered what he did on his show last year, I thought it was a good idea. Shout out to George!

A YouTube channel I’ve been wanting to mention here for sometime is Invisible People. Invisible People takes you into the lives of people who find themselves homeless and basically it just shows you what life’s like for them. There’s a stigma when it comes to homeless people but, what Mark (the owner and creator of the channel) sets out to do is show you that it’s not how you think it is. He shows you that homeless people are people just like you and me. On some level, I think we all already know this but it’s easier to keep with the stereotypes and stigmatization of homelessness and homeless people because seeing yourself in their situation is scary. I think ignoring the truth of homeless people being people just like you and me is actually much scarier. False security. Check it out if you get a chance. Invisible People.

To bring things back to a brighter note. Remember my salad challenge? Wellness Wednesday’s I invite you to have a salad with me? Here’s a pic of my salad last week and, I have an overshare this week 🙂

I ran out of greens last week. I had some frozen spinach though and I was going to have that for my lunch, but I always size it wrong because if you’ve cooked spinach, you know that shit shrinks. It’s like a black woman’s hair! I’ve never seen shrinkage like this outside my own head. Anyway, I made a grain bowl. What you’re looking at is rice, tofu, sautĂ©ed spinach, avocados, parmesan cheese, tomatoes, peanuts and hot sauce. (Knowing me, olive oil as well).

Just a little overshare: My overshare this week is these amazing protein pancakes I made. Feast your eyes and be jelly! The recipe is from the “Homemade Mastery” channel on YouTube and the video is Oatmeal Pancakes. To make them protein pancakes, just add a scoop of protein powder. I also added chocolate chips to mine.

1/2 cup oats (I don’t think this makes a difference, but I use quick oats)

1 egg

2 1/2 Tbsp yogurt

1 tsp vanilla

1 Tbsp honey (erm, if you mean heaping then yes! Definitely 1 tbs overflowing with honey)

*some baking soda (I forgot the second time around and they still came out alright)

1 tsp coconut oil or butter (I use coconut oil for a taste that’s*mwaah*. Also, does that say tsp? Get out of here! I use about a tbsp for the whole thing and my coconut oil’s solid around this time of year)

This was from Sunday. I usually have Moringa in the mornings with my breakfast but I was feeling brunch vibes on Sunday so I had a glass of passion juice. If I hadn’t had a project to turn in that day, the glass would have had a passion juice mimosa? For the pancakes, I didn’t have maple syrup so I used honey instead, and I sprinkled some unsweetened coconut flakes on top.
I made them again this morning. Photographed is the exact moment I remembered that I wanted to take a picture and show it to you.
